Hi and welcome to our family business! My name is Dougie Tobutt and I have been involved in the business since I was fifteen years old. I have always had a passion for sport having played football, cricket, basketball, squash and completing 123 marathons in 50 different countries.
I took over the running of the shop in 1988. We opened our clinic, The Good Health Centre in 2008, so my daughter has taken over the reins of the shop now and I deal with the injuries. She has a dedicated team who are guaranteed to give you a warm welcome.
His Son Geoffrey joined the business in 1945. When Len passed in 1965, Grandson Dougie joined the business.
They moved to Blackburn Road in 1977 following a Compulsory Purchase Order being served on the original building. Dougie took over the family business in 1988 and a move was made across the road from the rented premises to ownership.
Dougie Tobutt, 72, the third in his family to run Tobutt Sports on Blackburn Road, welcomed crowds to mark a century of the popular business.
Raising a glass to ‘the next 100 years’, he said: “It has been a rollercoaster, we have had highs, lows and a pandemic but we’re still going.

Dougie’s Daughter Mandy joined the business in 1992. The business has gone from strength to strength and now includes The Good Health Centre which includes; Physiotherapists, Health Practitioners and Sports Therapists, all ready to get injured runners back to a speedy recovery.

We have a fantastic team of staff, who get praises on a regular basis on social media, for their expert advice, and friendly no rush approach.
We are now finding that customers are now coming in for our video gait analysis, not just from Bolton, but from Bury , Salford, Wigan, Warrington, Manchester, Oldham, etc, and now as far a field as Birmingham and the Lake District, we even had a man from Japan found out about us.
